On 1 April, more than 50 professionals from across the industry came together both in person and online at the GHD Sydney office to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, recognising the importance of inclusive leadership and diversity within the tunnelling sector.
The evening began with an insightful keynote presentation from the Western Harbour Tunnel– P2 Precast Yard team, Carlos Sanabria and Candice Spiroski, who shared practical initiatives implemented on their project to promote inclusion and foster a supportive working environment. Their real-world examples highlighted how meaningful change can be achieved through commitment, collaboration, and leadership at all levels.
This was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring Natascha Rezai, Katarina David, Carlos Sanabria, and Candice Spiroski, who offered honest reflections and first-hand experiences on advancing DEI within the tunnelling industry. The conversation sparked thoughtful discussion and encouraged valuable knowledge-sharing among attendees.
The evening reflected our industry’s growing commitment to inclusivity, bringing together professionals and senior leaders from across the sector, including leaders from TfNSW and the Western Harbour Tunnel project leadership team, including the Project Director.
A sincere thank you to GHD for sponsoring the event, and to the ATS-DiT team, whose efforts made the evening possible.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions. Celebrating International Women’s Day is not only about recognition; it is about continuing to build an industry where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and lead.
