Overview
There will be a range of underground equipment (Sprayed concrete sprayers and charge trucks) on display to explore with technical personal providing an overview on the equipment and VR concrete spraying simulators to come and try.
Talk on sprayed concrete (how nozzle-man training transfers to cost savings and meeting QA requirements – not exceeding them). Ben Ferri – Technical Solutions Manager Sprayed Concrete will deliver the talks.
Also demonstrations of underground construction chemicals (sprayed concrete accelerators, admixtures, injection resins and conditioning agents (TBM).

About the speaker

Ben Ferri is a Technical Solutions Manager for Applied Shotcrete with Normet Asia Pacific, based in Brisbane, with more than three decades of hands-on industry experience combined with his technical, operational, and training knowledge, working closely with contractors, engineers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders across the region.
Ben’s combined practical and technical experience delivering shotcrete solutions across civil infrastructure, tunnelling, mining industries, has placed him as an Industry leader in all things Shotcrete.
Ben has been engaged on several landmark projects over his 30-year tenure which include many of the major tunnelling projects on Australia’s east coast, such as Eastern Distributor, Ryde Sewer Tunnels, Homebush Rail Link for the 2000 Olympics and WestConnex M5. From these Sydney Tunnels, Ben developed a strong specialisation in shotcrete placement and application.
In his role as Technical Solutions Manager at Normet, Ben is responsible for the Applied shotcrete portfolio managing shotcrete consultancy, technical mix design optimisation and troubleshooting, training and admixture supply.
Ben is a Trainer and Assessor, an EFNARC examiner, and works closely with various industry leaders through the Australian Shotcrete Society and Young Engineers Australia at the Queensland University.
