The system utilises a WEG W22 motor, known for its durability and energy efficiency, paired with a CFW11 WEG inverter with built-in soft programmable logic control (PLC). This combination allows for smooth and energy-efficient operation, even when dealing with the large inertia of jaw crushers. The innovative software controls ramp times, current, torque, speed and direction to automatically unblock the system, all while minimising power consumption.

“Since we first developed this system in 2016, we’ve installed over 80 crusher unblock systems and continue to increase crusher safety and efficiency across the globe for both end users and OEMs,” explained David Strain, technical director at Technidrive. “The average time lost to a blocked jaw crusher is 240 minutes and the average lost throughput is a staggering 800 tons. Using our jaw crusher auto-unblock control system reduces that to five minutes and just 21 tons. That’s a saving of nearly four hours in downtime and 779 tons, every time the system kicks in.”
