SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill will connect major employment\, health\, education and retail destinations in Melbourne’s east and south east. The line will slash travel times\, connect people travelling on the Gippsland corridor and building it will create up to 8000 direct jobs. Construction started in June 2022 and trains will be running by 2035. \nBeyond the rail line\, SRL will open up a host of new social and economic opportunities for hundreds of thousands of Victorians by creating greater access to jobs\, health services\, education and a diverse range of quality and affordable housing. \nSustainability is at the forefront of the design\, delivery and operation of Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) to maximise long term benefits for the environment\, community and the economy. SRL will take around 600\,000 car trips and 2 million passenger kilometres off our roads every day. Sarah was recognised as a Green Star Champion in 2021 and is a dynamic sustainability professional with significant experience of the planning\, design and construction\, built environment and sustainability sectors. Previous roles have included Net Zero Buildings lead for City of Melbourne\, Sustainability Manager for the Fishermans Bend Taskforce and a range of consulting roles.

DESCRIPTION:Registrations for the Shotcrete 2024 workshop are filling fast\, so don’t miss out book your seat now. \nThe workshop will cover a range of topics related to developments in shotcrete for ground support in Australia. The format will comprise a first day of lectures covering the essentials of shotcrete technology for all applications\, the second day will focus on more advanced aspects of shotcrete relevant to civil tunnels and infra-structure. It will finish with a facilitated interactive discussion where all attendees can share their experiences\, views and identify areas of need for further information. DESCRIPTION:The ATS is offering our members the fantastic opportunity to visit Melbourne Metro’s Parkville Station. \nNOTE: This event is complimentary to ATS members and will be run by ballot. To be in with a chance please enter your details here \nThis event link has been setup for the purpose of registration to be entered into a draw for the places to attend the Parkville Station Site Visit on August 19th 2024 at 3pm. The maximum number of participants will be strictly limited to 20 visiting ATS members.  \nPlease register to this event as a way to enter the ballot. Successful registrants will be notified of their selection via email/calendar invite after the draw has taken place.  \nRegistrations close COB Friday August 3rd. \nImportant – All successful participants will need to supply their own PPE\, please do not register if you are unable to satisfy these requirements: \n\nSteel capped lace up safety boots\,\nLong trousers\,\nLong-sleeved top PLUS orange high-vis vest\nSafety glasses\,\nHard hat\n\nPlan for the day of the Site Visit – this will be communicated to the successful registrants as part of the confirmation calendar invite \nSite visit information\nParkville Station connects this world-class education\, health and research precinct to the rail network for the first time and includes station entrances on the doorstep of The University of Melbourne and some of Victoria’s biggest hospitals. \nThe new station provides a direct train connection to the area for the first time and will relieve pressure on local trams and roads. \nParkville Station has been built directly below Grattan Street between Royal Parade and Leicester Street and will have 4 entrances\, each with accessible entry via escalators and lifts: \n\nGrattan Street opposite Barry Street (main entrance)\ncorner of Grattan Street and Royal Parade\nGrattan Street outside the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre\nRoyal Parade outside The Royal Melbourne Hospital.\n\nThe design of the new Parkville Station precinct turns Grattan Street into a ‘grand promenade’ situated among some of Victoria’s most prominent institutions. \nThe main station entry\, on the northern side of Grattan Street outside The University of Melbourne\, features a 54m-long glass and steel canopy designed to draw natural light into the station concourse. The entrance has been designed to sit within the tree canopy to blend in with the surrounding environment. \nNatural light has been maximised in the concourse via light wells that will allow light to penetrate from the surface to the station below.
