SUMMARY:Digitalisation and automation in tunnels
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nGain an understanding of how BIM enables a collaborative way of working using digital processes to enable more productive methods of operating and maintaining assets through their lifecycle. \nAbout the event\nBuilding Information Modelling (BIM) in Tunnelling is the digital representation of physical infrastructure and functional characteristics. BIM serves as a shared knowledge resource for information about an asset throughout its lifecycle. Information modelling in tunnelling includes supporting decision making and encompasses strategic appraisal and planning. Modelling supports design\, construction to operation\, maintenance and renewal. Information modelling systems allow us to deliver quality engineering to owners and contractors. The process requires skills\, tools\, and robust procedures. For the entire tunnelling community to take advantage of this\, it is of paramount importance to share\, educate and implement experiences\, standards and guidelines\, which are driven by the build industry. \nThis presentation will provide insights into: \n\nBest practice in international and domestic applications\, cross-disciplinary initiatives\, and future thinking where digitalisation in underground tunnelling and the future\nUnderstanding of how BIM enables a collaborative way of working\nProductive methods of planning\, designing and constructing\nOperating and maintaining assets through their lifecycle\n\nEvent program and locations\nPresentation to conclude for all attendees at 7:30 pm AEDT. \nBrisbane – online \n\n5.30 pm AEST – Presentation\n6.30 pm AEST – Presentation to conclude for all attendees\n\nSydney – online \n\n6.30 pm AEDT – Presentation\n7.30 pm AEDT – Presentation to conclude for all attendees\n\nOnline – via Webex details will be sent upon registration. \n\n6:30pm AEDT – Presentation\n\nAbout the speaker\nDr Jurij Karlovsek\nDeputy Director\nSustainable Infrastructure Research Hub Lecturer\, Geotechnical Engineering \nDr Jurij Karlovsek is an engineer\, researcher\, and educator at The University of Queensland\, Brisbane Australia. Jurij has a broad area of expertise in Geotechnical Engineering with the main specialty in infrastructure projects\, especially the development of sustainable underground space. Jurij focuses on the digital enablement of infrastructure to deliver applications of digital engineering\, asset information modelling\, and construction. His current position is the deputy director of a UQ Sustainable Infrastructure Research Hub\, with a lead focus on digitalisation for a sustainable infrastructure future. Since 2016\, Jurij chairs the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association Working Group 22 with a working title – Information Modelling in Tunnelling. \nIn addition to the above\, Jurij actively engages in the mentorship of undergraduate students\, supporting their industry engagement activities\, and generally helping to make their experience as students a more enriched one.
